Christ Lutheran Christian Women (CLCW) is the women’s ministry organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) here at Christ Lutheran Church. We strive to fulfill the slogan of the ELCA “God’s Work, Our Hands” by putting our faith into action.

Our purpose state reads:” “As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society and the world.”

Our Christ Lutheran Women are divided into 2 groups called Circles. The two circles are Elizabeth and Rebecca/Martha.  These Circles meet on the second Tuesday of each month during the school year usually at a member’s home.  At these meetings we engage in Bible study with a lesson lead by one of our members, have devotions, an offering, a meeting/planning time and dessert with lots of visiting and laughter. We have two General Meetings scheduled during the year where all the women meet and the entire congregation is encouraged to attend.   All women are welcome to come to these meetings or are encouraged to organize their own circle.

Our group financially assists various organizations, such as Passages (a home for abused women in Richland Center), Lutheran Campus Ministry, our 3 area food pantries, Bible camps, River Valley School District Fund 21, Bethel Lutheran Homeless Ministry and Lutheran World Relief to name a few. We annually gift to local families to make their Christmas more joyous, and purchase gifts for our graduating seniors and  the confirmation students, Our yearly projects include the assembling of  Baby kits, personal care kits, and quilts for the Lutheran World Relief boxcar effort, and funding for  shipping. We host a party at Greenway to celebrate the birthday of residents with cake and ice cream. We have sponsored youth with bible camp scholarships, and help sponsor many of their projects.  We have purchased silk floral arrangements to beautify our sanctuary, a Touch Board for the Fellowship Hall, an outdoor Nativity Set, and a processional cross.   We were able to do all this with monies collected from our Bake less Bake Sale in February, our annual Rummage Sale, our circle offerings and the Sauk County Retired Teacher’s Luncheon that we host.

We are women of all ages, gathered in community to support each other on our faith journey, serve and make a difference in our community and around the world.  We find great joy in growing together in faith and friendship. “Together in Jesus Christ we are freed by grace to live faithfully, witness boldly and serve joyfully.
